Some relationships are given to us by birth. Some are gifted to us as we grow. Some enter our lives through destiny. But every one of them has something in common—they become our gurus.

On this Guru Purnima, I found myself reflecting on who my real gurus are. The answer was not one person. It was a beautiful journey of people who have held my hand, corrected me, encouraged me, and silently shaped the person I am today.

The very first guru in every person’s life is their mother. The moment she gives birth to us, she begins teaching us without expecting anything in return. She teaches us love, trust, kindness, patience, and the meaning of unconditional care.

Standing beside her is our father. Together, our parents become the greatest gurus of our lives. They teach us to walk, to speak, to dream, to fall, and most importantly, to rise again. They introduce us to values, discipline, compassion, and faith. It is through them that many of us first learn to fold our hands in prayer and recognise the presence of God.

As we grow, our circle of gurus expands. Our grandparents, siblings, relatives, teachers, friends, mentors, and every person who leaves us with a valuable lesson becomes a guide in our journey. Every classroom lesson, every mistake corrected, and every encouraging word shapes our future.

For a woman, life brings another beautiful chapter after marriage.

A girl enters a new family and gradually grows into a woman, embracing new responsibilities and new relationships. In this journey, her father-in-law, mother-in-law, and husband become her guides in many ways. They support her, teach her, encourage her, and help her grow into a stronger version of herself. Their place in her life becomes deeply meaningful, adding another layer of gratitude to her heart.

Then comes another extraordinary teacher—our child.

People often say parents teach children. But anyone who has experienced parenthood knows that children teach us just as much. They teach us patience, forgiveness, curiosity, resilience, unconditional love, and the joy of living in the present. Every smile, every innocent question, and every tiny achievement reminds us to become better human beings.

Life also blesses us with gurus in every field.

The mentor who guides our career. The trainer who strengthens our body. The yoga instructor who teaches balance. The financial mentor who teaches us to manage our wealth wisely. The spiritual guide who brings us closer to inner peace. The doctor who helps us heal. The colleague who shares experience. Even a stranger can become our guru by teaching us a lesson that stays with us forever.

The truth is, learning never stops.

Every success teaches gratitude. Every failure teaches resilience. Every challenge teaches courage. Every mistake becomes a teacher if we are willing to learn.

Above all stands the Supreme Guru—God.

God may not always appear before us, but He reaches us through people. Whenever we need guidance, He sends someone into our lives—a parent, a teacher, a mentor, a friend, or even a stranger—to show us the right path. His blessings often arrive in the form of human beings who illuminate our journey when we need it the most.

Today, when I look back at my life, I realise how fortunate I am.

My parents, my teachers, my siblings, my family, my father-in-law, my mother-in-law, my husband, my child, my mentors, my trainers, my financial guides, my spiritual teachers, and everyone who has ever taught me something—each of them has contributed to the person I am today.

My heart is peaceful because I know I have never walked alone. At every stage of life, God placed the right guru beside me.

On this sacred occasion of Guru Purnima, I bow my head with humility and gratitude before every soul who has guided me—knowingly or unknowingly.

Thank you for your wisdom. Thank you for your patience. Thank you for believing in me. Thank you for helping me become a better human being.

Happy Guru Purnima.

May we never stop learning, never stop growing, and never stop expressing gratitude to every guru who lights our path.
